In the context of our Summer School we will hold a public conference at HBC in Berlin with the two designers and experts Francesco Franchi and Stefan Fichtel. The Italian and German guest speakers will present their work and discuss with Nicolas Bourquin and Thibaud Tissot in a cross-disciplinary panel.
After the commercial success of the world acclaimed and (at the same time) highly criticised books Data Flow, onlab would like to invite the public to discuss and expand the definition of contemporary information graphics in the field of Editorial Design.

Editorial and information visual designer
Since 2008, Francesco Franchi worked as art director for IL – Intelligence in lifestyle, the monthly newsmagazine of Il Sole 24 ORE, the leading financial and economical newspaper in Italy.
Before he worked for five years as senior designer for Leftloft, a design studio based in Milan and New York. In 2005, he took specialist courses in graphic design in London and completed in 2007 a masters degree in industrial design at the Politecnico of Milan, graduating with distinction, with a thesis on newspaper design. He is professional journalist since 2010.

Stefan Fichtel is the founder of ixtract GmbH and was awarded in 2010 for The Best Infographics Of The Year by the jury of SND.
He was visual consultant and creative director for KircherBurkhardt in Berlin. He is Associate Professor for Infographic at BTK Berlin. He is currently working for clients like: National Geographic, Die Zeit, Die Welt, Siemens, ...
