In 1979, the Neuchâtel Museum of Art and History received a major donation from Yvan Amez-Droz. His collection includes Impressionists like Degas, Monet, Morisot, and Renoir. The information space allows to review the preparation’s process for the move and the different stages that mark it. The exhibition dedicated to the work of the photographer Fred Boissonnas (1858–1946) focuses on a little-known yet crucial part of his career: his travels in the Mediterranean, which he crossed in the first three decades of the 20th century in search of light, Homeric sites and biblical landscapes. In an immersive approach despite the small formats exhibited, giant wallpapers images punctuate the exhibition that takes up Mediterranean codes through its architecture, furniture, colors, and materials, including a sand-like carpet covering its entire floor.

We have developed it together since 2016 and have been in charge of all of the club’s on- and offline communications, including hundreds of flyers and posters designed on a grid system inspired by the legendary cage used as a DJ booth. This versatile framework has enabled the incorporation of various visual elements such as photography, patterns and typography, allowing the communication to evolve and adapt over the years while maintaining consistency.

Brothers Yakov and Evgeny Henkin were born around 1900 in Russia, to a wealthy Jewish family. They both shared a passion for photography, which they pursued separately throughout the 1930s – one in Leningrad, the other in Berlin. The two brothers wandered their lenses through parks and boulevards and documented demonstrations, sports competitions or popular festivals. Presenting the work of each brother separately through similar topics, the book design and its layout draws inspiration from the constructivist style and publications of the time.

Brothers Yakov and Evgeny Henkin were born around 1900 in Russia, to a wealthy Jewish family. They both shared a passion for photography, which they pursued separately throughout the 1930s – one in Leningrad, the other in Berlin. The two brothers wandered their lenses through parks and boulevards and documented demonstrations, sports competitions or popular festivals. Presenting the work of each brother separately through similar topics, the book design and its layout draws inspiration from the constructivist style and publications of the time.

Between 1534 and 1535, extremist Anabaptists sought to establish the kingdom of God on earth. This story has inspired many writers, including Friedrich Dürrenmatt, who made it the subject of his first play, “Es ist geschrieben”, in 1947. The play was staged in Paris in 1952 as “Les Fous de Dieu”, causing a polemic but also launching his career as a playwright. The design of the exhibition draws on this scandal, using newspaper clippings and headlines, as well as various archive materials, to explore Dürrenmatt’s complex relationship with faith throughout his life.

Photographer Serge Fruehauf presents a current and subjective panorama of the canton’s architectural culture. Fruehauf’s images focus on significant details that are often perceived as banal, yet reveal the latent potential of architecture. The book lays out all photographs taken by Fruehauf in a chronologically and generated sequence where only format changes are used to draw attention to specific images.

The most ordinary objects provide an opportunity to detail the lifestyles that marked all the countries of the former USSR between Stalin’s death (1953) and the beginning of perestroika (1985). In counterpoint to the main text, literary excerpts and vintage photographs help to give substance to the often paradoxical experience of Soviet daily life.

Onlab is a Swiss graphic design studio working across editorial, digital, and spatial media. We develop commissioned, collaborative, and self-initiated projects mainly within the cultural and public sectors, both in Switzerland and internationally. Onlab was originally founded by Nicolas Bourquin in Berlin in the early 2000s. Vanja Golubovic and Thibaud Tissot founded a new studio in Switzerland in 2016, soon joined by Matthieu Huegi. Onlab’s Berlin office officially ceased operations in 2020.
